Here are some common questions about Attentive Care Service Agency.

Are you certified by Medicare and Medicaid?

Yes. Attentive Care Service Agency is certified with Medicaid. We are in the process of becoming certified with Medicare.

Are your caregivers bonded and insured through your agency?

Yes, we have professional and commercial liability insurance. We are also bonded.

What are your privacy practices?

We have privacy practices in place explaining how a client’s medical information may be used or disclosed to parties with an identifiable need for the information. We are compliant with the HIPAA Privacy Rule. The HIPAA Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other personal health information and applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain health care transactions electronically.

May I have a copy of them?

Absolutely.

What process do you use to hire and assess your caregivers?

We interview all candidates, review their criminal background, ensure they are able to work with state and federal government programs, then begin the training process.

What does your pre-employment screening look like?

Reference checks, Physical health checks, Competency evaluations, skills assessments.

Do you have additional screenings each year?

Yes, each year we screen all staff for physical health requirements, criminal background checks, continuing education requirements.

How do you evaluate your caregivers?

All caregivers are evaluated on the basis of compassion for elderly and disabled persons, performance in providing care, the effectiveness of carrying out duties, integrity, dependability, and more.

How often do you evaluate your caregivers?

All caregivers are evaluated upon hire and on a monthly basis.

What training do you provide to your caregivers?

We provide classroom style training, competency exam results, hands-on/return demonstration training.

What is the process for reporting non-compliance?

Consumers, family members, caregivers, etc. are strongly encouraged to report non-compliance. The Agency will follow up and investigate the complaint and inform the proper departments concerning any non-compliance.

Give me an example of a time when you fired a caregiver?

We have not fired any of our staff.

How do you respond to emergencies?

The Agency has emergency procedures and policies in place. We assess each client’s emergency plan and offer recommendations to achieve an optimal plan for the client. We train all staff on protocols to follow when an emergency is presented.

May I have 2-3 references?

Yes, references are available upon request.

What specific services do you provide?

The Agency provides personal assistance services to seniors and persons with disabilities. Assistance with activities of daily living, medication consultation, skilled nursing assessments and services, tobacco cessation services, training, community resources and more.

Has your agency won any notable awards?

At the moment, we have not won any awards.

Will my family member have the same caregiver every time?

Caregiver schedules are subject to change with notice to the consumer. All caregivers are evaluated with the client before they provide services. We assure that exceptional care will be provided by any caregiver assigned to your family.

What happens if the caregiver doesn’t show up on time or at all?

If this happens, call the Agency immediately so we can initiate our back-up plan for providing services.

What if my family member doesn’t approve of the caregiver or wants a new one?

Always contact the Agency if there’s a problem or concern about a caregiver. The Agency evaluates all caregivers with families before they provide services to a client. We will accommodate the client and diligently provide a caregiver to their specifications and needs.

My family member prefers to have someone with similar interests as they do, can I make special requests?

Special requests are considered when choosing a caregiver for your family. Caregivers are evaluated before they provide care. At this time we encourage the client and family to share their opinion on the caregiver during the initial meeting.

How likely is it that Medicare Part A will cover my parent’s home health care?

Currently, Medicare and all components of this insurance plan do not cover long-term services and supports. The criteria for Medicare home support services are vastly different from Medicaid. Only Medicaid insurance programs offer long-term services and supports. Medicare offers short-term home supports that have specific requirements in order to claim these benefits.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept Medicaid insurance. We are providers with all 3 MCOs and authorized to provide services to Medicaid participants with any one of the managed care organizations.

Do you submit claims to the insurance agency or am I expected to do so?

The Agency is responsible for submitting all claims and remittances to the insurance companies.

What’s included?

The frequency, duration, service type, amount, are included in billing information for claims to be processed with the insurance company.

What expenses are excluded?

Some clients are not financially eligible to receive Medicaid assistance. The Agency does accept private pay for services. The rate for this is determined once a needs assessment and frequency is established by the client or the family. Other expenses may include personal items for the client not associated with caregivers or the Agency.
